I am a small business owner , former youth minister and member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity . As a native of Jacksonville I graduated from Jean Ribault high school and obtained my degree from a local state college . I attended the National Labor College where I studied Political Economy and Labor . I am a happily married father of four . I am a member of the International Longshoremen ' s Association ( Local 1408 ) for over 12 years . I will work tirelessly to ensure that the resources needed for Jacksonville to flourish , perpetuate job growth and stimulate the local economy are maintained , improved and developed . I will work to develop solutions in areas of neighborhood revitalization , public safety , economic growth and human rights in the city of Jacksonville . In order for the Bold City to progress and truly live up to its name , it needs energetic and progressive leaders who are vested in the needs of the community . Economic Development - Look for innovated resources to improve opportunities for all .
Infrastructure - Ensure that basic physical and organizational facilities needed for our city , our port , and for enterprise are maintained , improved and developed to foster the growth of Jacksonville .
Neighborhood Revitalization / Development - Continue to strengthen neighborhoods and downtown using a holistic approach .
Public Safety - Work closely with the Sheriff's office to ensure necessary funds are allocated for the department to operate sufficiently .
Healthy Citizens - Utilize city resources and partner with community and health related corporations in an effort to promote healthy lives from infants to seniors .
