" ad boys ain ' t no good- good boys ain ' t no Bfun , Lord knows that I should run off with
the right one , but I love my Mr . Wrong ." ( Mary J . Blige " MJB ") Those words seem to be the National Anthem for Single Black Female ' s ( SBF ) and women wonder why it ' s so difficult to find a good man ? The reason is simple ; most women look for the wrong thing .
Matthew 2 shares with us an interesting contrast of two completely different men . One man is Godly , the other man ungodly . One man by his actions is saved ; the other man by his actions is not saved . The name of the first man is Joseph . The name of the other man is Herod . It ' s apparent that Joseph is a man that loves God but Herod is a man that hates God . Joseph cares for , nurtures , protects , and provides for his family . Herod controls , confines , corrupts , and even slaughters his family . Joseph is

called upon by God to raise another man ' s son . Herod does all he can to systematically kill sons .
Joseph is one of the bible ' s unsung heroes . He does not say much , he does not own much , but he has a lot to offer . Joseph is not a professional man . He does not wear designer robes , imported gator sandals , or owns a luxury home in the hill country of Judea . The bible tells us that Joseph is a carpenter and a craftsman . He works with his hands , he has a trade and that ' s how he makes his living . The most striking feature about Joseph is that God takes notice of him . Not because of his money or his education , his political , social , or fraternal affiliations , but God takes notice of him because of his integrity . Joseph loves God . He ' s committed to God and he wants to please God more than he wants to please man . That ' s the kind of man every woman should be seeking .
Herod on the other hand does not know the Lord . He ' s got money , position and he ' s a King . He lives in a palace and he drives a fancy chariot . But the real question is what ' s driving him ? He ' s abusive , he lies , he ' s dangerous , he hurts people and any man that hurts other people given time , will eventually hurt you . My suggestion here to SBF ' s is to get your own chariot , buy your own home , make your own money , learn to be happy with yourself and when looking for a man , look deeper .
So how do you find a good man ? In verse 13 we discover that Joseph is a man of vision , a man receptive to the " word ". Verse 14 tells us that Joseph is a man of action , a man that ' s willing to " work ". Verse 22 tells us that Joseph is cautious , that ' s a man of " wisdom ". Joseph receives the word , he works , and he ' s wise . Now he is ready for a woman . But when the order gets confused , SBF ' s , hook up-but there ' s no word ; hook upbut there ' s no work ; hook up-but there ' s no wisdom ; expect breakup !
Joseph gives us three things to look for in a man : A man that " listens " to the voice of God ; a man that does the " will " of God ; and a man that " loves " the people of God . When you find a man with these characteristics , he will prove not only to be good , loving , supportive , and kind , but he will in no way be boring and no fun ! Go tell that to MJB !
