42 . Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing youth sports , so come on out and learn the basics of this fast-paced , fun game ! Lacrosse is played on a field similar to soccer , using a stick with a net (“ pocket ”) to throw and catch a small ball .
43 . This is a non-competitive learning league to help develop and enhance coordination , soccer fundamentals , rules , teamwork , sportsmanship , and most importantly , how to have fun through recreation .
44 . Baseline tests are performed on athletes preseason to establish an individual athlete ’ s pre-injury performance . Tests can provide a comparison point for cognitive function .
45 . Floorball is a type of indoor hockey that doesn ’ t require any bulky equipment . All you need is a stick and a ball ! While floorball is similar to ball or floor hockey , it is faster and safer because of the unique rules and the lightweight equipment . The emphasis is on speed and skill , rather than strength .
46 . Parent & Me Fitness is a brand new class designed to get parents and kids , ages 4-7 , on the track to good fitness ! This class will help teach kids the importance of good fitness habits early . By doing it with mom or dad , they ’ ll have a great example to follow . Learn basic fitness moves like stretches , sit-ups , and push-ups . You ’ ll also work with ropes and balance balls , concentrating on proper form and technique .
47 . Discover your inner swan in a ballet class geared for seniors ! Lead by faculty from Ballet Tucson - Tucson ’ s Professional Ballet Company . Gain flexibility , agility , coordination , stamina , and grace as you explore the beauty of ballet .
48 . Involves creative movement with an introduction to ballet terminology , barre exercises , and movement across the floor .
49 . Incorporates basic gymnastics , including use of bars , beam , and practice with tramp and tumble-tracking . Progressions and lead-ups are the key factors at this level .
50 . Kids Get Moving ! is one of our newest offerings for young children . This class will work on coordination while introducing some basic concepts of teamwork , all in a super fun environment ! Lots of ball play , some tumbling , and lots more that is sure to get your little one moving and shaking . Basic fitness concepts like stretching will also be a focus .
51 . This workshop will help you develop a connection to your core through the understanding of what muscles and actions are involved in bridging your upper and lowering body in your yoga poses .
52 . We live in an incredibly beautiful place , but how much do we really know about it ? Sure it ’ s hot , but why ? Why is it considered one of the most biologically diverse environments on earth ? Will a better understanding of our desert home give us a greater sense of connection and perhaps contentment ? 54 . A research-tested physical , mental , and social stimulation program developed by psychologist Sharon Arkin . A senior , memory-impaired participant will be partnered with a University of Arizona volunteer “ personal trainer ” who will supervise the participant in physical fitness work outs and engage in memory and language stimulation .

57 . Hummingbirds hold a special place in the hearts of many people . With their feisty behavior , spectacular colors , and amazing powers of flight , ‘ hummers ’ are favorites of birders and non-birders alike . We will focus on the hummingbirds of Southern Arizona .
58 . The ancient art of silk painting uses resist to guide vibrant , flowing dyes across fabric . In this class , we will use vinegar-based dyes to create expressive 4x4 inch silk paintings mounted on canvas . We will experiment with color combinations and use salt to create comet-burst effects . This class is suitable for any level of artistic ability . A $ 20 material fee applies .

60 . Puerto Peñasco is Tucson ’ s Beach and was ALMOST part of Arizona ! Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez the “ aquarium of the world .” We ’ ll discuss the incredible Gulf of California and the environmental issues facing this unique biotic community . We ’ ll learn about the Monterey Bay Aquarium sponsored , Sea Food Watch program .

Each School Days Out offers a field trip and / or special programming at the J . Kids enjoy special activities such as sports , art , swimming , cooking , and more .
