NILS
FRAHM
Marrying the breathtakingly lush
with the daringly experimental,
prodigiously talented Berlin
composer and pianist Nils Frahm
makes music that sits somewhere
between baroque beauty and
cutting-edge electronica.
There are also a whole range of
free pop-up events hosted by
our generous sponsors, including
Foxtel. Experience the Kirin Bit.
Fall: bursts of water droplets
released at split-second intervals
spelling out fleeting, transient
words – a real-time cascade of
text pulled from the #Kirinbitfall
hashtag. There are also regular
food and wine workshops and
tastings with the very best wine
makers, mixologists, baristas
and sommeliers from Kirin, MOJO
Winemakers, Daylesford and
Hepburn Mineral Springs and
Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters.
ED
KUEPPER
Ed Kuepper is undisputed
Australian music royalty. The
chief architect of both The Saints
and Laughing Clowns, he’s one
of the most distinctive guitarists
and songwriters this country
has produced. For this year’s
Melbourne Festival Kuepper
showcases his latest project, Solo
and By Request: an epic two-hour
gig, both acoustic and electric,
where the audience picks the set
list.
Across two pianos and a suite of
vintage synthesisers, Frahm builds
intricate webs of sound and effect
– by turns playful, percussive,
provocative and powerful.
Renowned as much for his majestic
compositions as he is for his
charismatic and energetic stage
presence, Frahm makes his highly
anticipated Melbourne debut at
the Foxtel Festival Hub.
