This mighty ensemble presents a program from the New World and Old – at its centre, Charles Ives’ Three Places in New England matches Aurora’s own originality with Ives’ distinct mix of invention and penchant for Americana and musical referencing. It is twinned here with a specially commissioned film by Australian filmmaker Jon Frank. Also featuring is Testament, Australian phenomenon Brett Dean’s moving tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven written for the Berlin Philharmonic, and Beethoven’s own incomparable Symphony No. 3, the ‘Eroica’.
