In a remarkable double exhibition project,
Utopia and the Ian Potter Museum of Art
showcase the works of two prominent
contemporary Indian artists.
Chaired by Natalie King (director of Utopia @
Asialink) and Bala Starr (senior curator, the Ian
Potter Museum of Art), this forum examines the
complexities of working cross-regionally.
Jitish Kallat reconfigures his remarkable
installation, Circa, as a response to the museum’s
history, archives and collection of antiquities.

Nikhil Chopra, Goa-based artist and Asialink
roving resident 2012
Emily Floyd, Melbourne-based artist who
undertook an Asialink residency in New Delhi
Jitish Kallat, internationally acclaimed Mumbaibased artist
Dr Chaitanya Sambrani, curator, writer and
lecturer (Australian National University)
Gigi Scaria, Delhi-based artist, represented India
at 2011 Venice Biennale
Two generations of celebrated Indian artists
share recollections and reminiscences in this
illuminating documentary, featuring unique
footage and interviews with 10 renowned artists,
including Gulum Mohammed Sheikh, Vivan
Sundaram, Nalini Malani, N. Pushpamala, Anita
Dube and Atul Dodiya, along with art critic and
curator Geeta Kapur.
Internationally acclaimed artist Gigi Scaria
presents Prisms of perception, a startling,
perceptive and sometimes humorous selection of
video installations exploring the impact of the
enormous growth in India’s cities.
