Traumatised after one of his actresses nearly died during the shooting of his 2008 film Dream, art-house director Kim Ki-duk withdrew from filmmaking for three years. With Arirang he finally re-emerges – but this time he turns the lens on himself, constructing a fascinating, self-made reflection on his own approach to art.
