Much-loved local artist and singer-songwriter
Ileana Posas brings to the Festival a concert of
original songs all backed by a handpicked group
of some of the most impassioned Latin and jazz
musicians in Melbourne, bonding together for the
love of music.
Scheduled to perform for the Festival in 2007,
Ileana was forced to cancel due to seriously ill
health. This is a very special comeback gig.
With songs rooted in her desire to live and
to honour homeland – the beauty and joy,
lament and latitude of Latin music emanates
resoundingly from this extraordinary vocalist.
Originally from El Salvador, the lyrics Ileana
weaves are born in tradition, contemporary in
practice and extraordinary to behold. Her vitality
is unleashed in this world premiere performance.

Kenny Mellman of the riotous and ever
controversial Kiki & Herb returns to
Melbourne with a brilliantly conceived
tribute act that must be seen to be
believed!
Utilising only a piano, a drum-machine, a pair of
sunglasses and a hoodie, Mellman explores the
connection between a gay Jewish piano-player
and a black woman with a bad attitude who ruled
the disco floors and the airwaves for many a
year. Using Grace Jones’ own interviews as text,
Kenny Mellman presents a requiem for the loss
of creativity in the nightlife world and a battle cry
for resurrection.
