For the Festival Jordie will perform both solo and accompanied by some of Melbourne’s best-loved musicians. With his distinctive finger-style guitar picking, blues harmonica and a heart-breaking voice, Jordie has been described as “a journey, somewhere between Hank Williams and Ryan Adams, somehow familiar and yet wonderfully new”. Blue Drag with Chantal Mitvalsky The timeless essence of 1930s Paris comes alive as manouche outfit Blue Drag is joined by vocal sensation Chantal Mitvalsky for two irresistible Festival concerts Blue Drag’s evocative sound moves through the film-like world of Django-inspired big band arrangements and futuristic flavours. Lifted by the sensual vocals of Mitvalsky, expect uptempo hot jazz classics, gypsy sounds and cool grooves mixed with a selection of lush original ballads. Taking its name from the famous 1935 Django Reinhardt tune, Blue Drag was formed by multi-genre violinist Nigel MacLean in early 2000.
