Crooked Rib has been collaborating artistically since late 2007. A partnership
between the City of Melbourne’s Community Cultural Development Program and
the Muslim Women’s Council Victoria gave rise to this project, now comprised of
fourteen young Muslim women. From street art to painting, stencilling to digital
technologies, Crooked Rib works with artist Amanda King to express what it
means to be young, Muslim and living in Melbourne through this remarkable
exhibition of their new works.
A remarkable exhibition from this major New Zealand
artist that explores ideas about photography and the way
it is viewed
Collaborating with UK-based Mohammed Ali (Aerosol Arabic), Melburnians
can experience the creation of a whole new vernacular in stencil art. Together
and over the course of the Festival, Crooked Rib & Aerosol Arabic will
create a mural that is a powerful collaboration around ideas of difference and
the mutual interest to challenge cultural misconceptions and celebrate identity.

‘Ice Blink’ is a nautical term indicating the presence or absence of ice a
long way off. This exhibition draws from a large series of photographs of
imaginary Antarctic landscapes, made a long way from Antarctica - in
museums, research centres, aquariums and Antarctic theme parks and
discovery centres.
Anne Noble has been photographing imagined and re-created Antarctic
landscapes as well as Antarctic tourism since 2003, when she spent two
weeks on Ross Island as a New Zealand Antarctic Arts fellow.
Drawing on formal conventions of photographic beauty, Noble focuses
on visual disonance and the discordant narratives of place within these
environments. This exhibition includes images made in New Zealand,
Australia, Japan, Norway, England, Scotland and the United States between
2003 and 2007. Wellington-based Noble is an internationally renowned
artist. She has just had a solo exhibition of her work shown in France where
she has been the focus of a new biennale in Paris.
