one of New York’s most versatile artists
Composer, graceful lyricist and accomplished performer on piano,
accordion, guitar and saw, Cynthia Hopkins has developed a unique
presence as a storyteller and songwriter. Wrapped in a weary, country
twang with a raspy undertone, her delicate yet emotionally forceful voice
has been compared to a wide range of vocalists including Billie Holiday,
Natalie Merchant and Lotte Lenya; her lyrics evoking dark humor and
sparkling intelligence in equal measure.
Mikelangelo, with his thunderous baritone voice and riveting sensuality is
part-ringmaster, part-crooner, part-beast-possessed and, surely, one of the
most powerful performers ever to tread the stage!
A prolific composer, he has created an exotic storybook filled with tales
that will awe and enchant the listener. His songs are at once absurd and
profound, evoking lost worlds of beauty, melancholy and melodrama.
The Black Sea Gentlemen are his formidable musical ensemble, a group
of four devilishly handsome, musically gifted and audaciously entertaining
performers. Together they waltz, tango and polka their way through a
visceral and intoxicating Kabaret Noir.

Hopkins is a creator and performer of unique music/theatre works featuring
her band Gloria Deluxe, which she formed in 1999 and which has since
produced six full-length albums and toured extensively around the United States.
