Ashley Waldorf is a 2008
Professional Writing graduate
who is now an outdoor education
instructor at Pali Institute, a supplementary education facility in Running Springs,
California. She teaches science, leadership, and outdoor
education through project-based, experiential
lessons. “I get to live in the mountains and teach
kids about things that matter!”
“The project planning
and teamwork
components of the
program helped
prepare me for the
professional ?eld.”
“I joined Teach For America after
undergrad, and after that, kept my eyes
peeled for new opportunities,” Waldorf
said. “The project planning and teamwork
components of the program helped
prepare me for the professional ?eld.” She
used the contacts and network she had
established through Teach for America to get
the job she has now, but she also made sure to
always keep searching for a job that really spoke
to her.
“Jobs and opportunities are lurking everywhere, but you need to ?nd and take
advantage of them. Only apply to jobs that you can honestly see yourself being
happy at. If the job isn’t truly appealing to you, don’t waste your time with the
application process. Invest that time in something you really are interested in!”
