Amy NALETTE Senior Acquisitions Editor at Publications International Chicago, Illinois Amy Nalette, a 2006 graduate, has followed an exciting career path to the windy city of Chicago. With degrees in both Spanish and Professional Writing, Nalette currently works as a senior acquisitions editor at Publications International, Ltd. This position allows her to serve as account manager for their Disney Novelty Books division, handling daily correspondence and negotiations between Publications International and Disney, creating budgets for projects, and hiring artists to illustrate books. “I love being able to work independently, but I’m also part of this great team of people who consistently support one another,” Nalette said. Knowing she wanted to work in Chicago, Nalette only applied to positions in that area and soon landed an assistant position at Publications International. In less than two years, she was promoted to manage the Disney account. “Keep your eyes and ears open and start off low on the totem pole if you have to,” she advised. “Eventually, you’ll get to where you want to go!” “I love being able to work independently, but I’m also part of this great team of people who consistently support one another.” When re?ecting back on her time at MSU, Nalette believes that discovering Professional Writing was one of the best things that ever happened to her. “The PW program is what led me to publishing, but it also sparked my passion for design,” she said. “I’m currently going back to school at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a certi?cation in graphic design.” Follow Amy on Twitter @amynalette
