Ben RUBINSTEIN
Digital Marketing Specialist
at Gannett
Detroit, Michigan
Ben Rubinstein is a 2008 graduate
who recently moved back to
Michigan after spending four years
working for Macmillan Publishing
and Tor Books in New York City. Rubinstein then worked as a marketing and
communications associate within the Wayne State
University Press in Detroit, but is now a digital
marketing specialist for Gannett.
Rubinstein enjoys each of his positions in
publishing: “It’s a great feeling when you
cold e-mail someone with a story idea,
hear back that they’re interested, and then
see the story go live.”

As a student, Rubinstein thoroughly enjoyed
all of the classes he took with the Professional
Writing faculty. He believes the best part of
the PW program is the diversity of training that
exists in each class. Rubinstein says that as a professional
communicator, “you’re going to have to write and communicate in different ways
and also understand when each writing technique will be most effective; PW
prepares you for that.”
