The 488-seat Grosvenor Theatre inside the Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver , BC is a traditional theatre featuring touring artists and youth productions that provides the audience access to cultural expression in many forms . ShowTech AVL Systems , located in Burnaby , BC , recently installed the first d & b R90 touchscreen remote control unit in Canada with d & b Xa-Series 10AL two-way loudspeakers . The R90 is mounted on a standard 19-in . 4RU racking plate that was cut to fit and installed in the equipment rack at FOH . The theatre ’ s production manager and technical director , Justin Corrie , wanted something that could control everything in the d & b system while being easy to use by inexperienced staff .
The NBA resumed its season in July 2020 in a “ bubble ” inside the Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando , FL . Each of the three courts used for the games has two sound systems : one aimed at the court and the other at the audience . The court system immerses the players in crowd and live venue sounds to emulate their traditional experience . Firehouse Productions provided the system , which is mixed through a Digico Quantum7 console in each of the three venues .
The three SD7 desks , each updated with new Quantum engines , are the hubs for all of the audio elements that are feeding the three courts . Those elements include over 1,500 individual audio clips such as cheers , boos , and other reaction sounds . The Quantum7 also creates a 5.1 version of the audience sounds that is sent to broadcast for on-air use .
PMC is providing the speakers for the presentation of an immersive audio experience as part of an international exhibition called The Rolling Stones – Unzipped . The touring exhibition opens in November 2020 at the Groninger Museum in The Netherlands . Fans will journey through the band ’ s legacy , ending with a finale experience that takes them into an iconic Stones moment , delivered in multi-dimensional Dolby Atmos sound .
Five large screens will immerse fans in this multi-dimensional experience . This event marks the first public use of PMC ’ s Ci series , with the Ci140-XBD , custom designed for the Stones , providing the left-centreright channels . A dozen channels of surround and rear effects come from the Ci140 and eight overhead channels feature the Ci65 model . Additional bass support is provided by the new BST active subwoofers .
After taking off on July 30 , 2020 , NASA ’ s Mars 2020 Rover is scheduled to touch down on the Red Planet in February 2021 . To capture sounds from Mars for the first time ever , the vehicle will be outfitted with a selection of equipment from DPA Microphones .
DPA ’ s 4006 Omnidirectional Microphone will capture the high-quality audio while the MMA-A Digital Audio Interface will be used to record and send audio to a computer through its USB connection . Both mics will be paired with MMP-G Modular Active Cables , which act as ultra-transparent preamplifiers . DPA ’ s microphones were selected because of their ability to withstand the extreme conditions associated with space travel , leave a small footprint , and connect to a computer with a USB interface .
