NAB Show New York Presenting 10-Day Virtual Experience

Trade Regrets : Bryston President Brian Russell
With sadness and surprise , the pro audio industry learned in late September that Brian Russell , the president of Canadian audio manufacturer Bryston , passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 68 .
“ It is with utmost sadness and a broken heart that we pass along the news of the sudden passing of Brian W . Russell , our President and Overseas Distributor Liaison ,” Bryston CEO Christopher Russell wrote on the company ’ s Facebook page on Sept . 29 th . “ Brian was well liked by all who knew him . His travels took him to all parts of the globe , and he made friends and cohorts everywhere he went . Brian had worked at Bryston since the 1970s , and was easily one of the most valuable and hard-working members of the Bryston team . We will miss his hearty , jovial presence and his warm-hearted good spirits most deeply . Please make donations in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation .”
As well , Brian ’ s colleague and friend James Tanner , the company ’ s VP of sales and marketing , wrote online : “ I worked with Brian for over 45 years and he was the most kind and caring individual I have ever known . He came across as a rough , gruff bear of a guy , but deep down , he had the emotions of a teddy bear . I will miss him a lot and I am still in disbelief over this .”

The 2020 NAB Show New York will run as a 10-day virtual event offering education , discovery , and engagement opportunities from October 19-29 , 2020 .
Produced by the National Association of Broadcasters ( NAB ), the event will showcase advances in next-generation technology and feature conferences , workshops , and exhibits focused on television , film , online video , live events , podcasting , advertising , corporate AV , production , and post .
Registrants will gain access to content available live and on-demand . An exclusive marketplace will feature established brands and emerging start-up companies . It will also offer immersive tours , new product demonstrations , authoritative white papers , and live chats with representatives from exhibiting companies .
A mix of established and new programs will highlight the schedule . These include TVNewsCheck ’ s TV2025 ; the New York State Broadcasters ’ Association Digital Leadership Academy ; Post | Production World Online , produced in partnership with Future Media Conferences ; and Media and Entertainment Day , produced by the Media and Entertainment Services Alliance .

2021 NAB Show Moved from April to October
The National Association of Broadcasters ( NAB ) is moving its 2021 show from April to October . Originally scheduled for April 10-14 , the show is now scheduled for Oct . 9-13 , 2021 at the Las Vegas Convention Center .
“ We recognize the vital role NAB Show plays as a driver of innovation and an economic engine for the global media and entertainment industry . With that in mind , it is critical we act on your behalf and in a way that will best serve the long-term interests of the industry ,” NAB says . “ The pandemic remains a significant threat and the evidence suggests it will be well into next year before it could be under control in the U . S . We also have our own concerns around being able to deliver the type of event in April that will not only drive results , but one that can be produced safely for all involved and without significant limitations on the experience .”
Moving the main NAB Show to October also means the association is now looking for alternative dates for the 2021 NAB Show New York , which is typically held that month . Also , the 2021 Radio Show will now co-locate with the NAB Show in Las Vegas , as will NAB ’ s Sales and Management Television Exchange .
