PRODUCTS Blue Microphones Bluebird SL Condenser Mic Blue Microphones has expanded the Essentials Series with the release of the Bluebird SL, an enhanced version of the original Bluebird condenser microphone. The Bluebird SL’s hand-built capsule utilizes a gold-sputtered Mylar diaphragm for improved resonance at higher frequencies. The rear back plate ensures balanced sound across the entire frequency spectrum and discreet Class-A circuitry maximizes the sound’s accuracy. The Bluebird SL features a new onboard switchable high-pass filter and -20dB pad that provides the flexibility to track a wide variety of sound sources. Lewitt Audio LCT 640 TS Condenser Microphone Lewitt Audio has released the LCT 640 TS large-diaphragm condenser microphone, which is designed to allow the user to change and simulate the recording set up before or after recording. When set to Dual Output Mode, the microphone’s front and rear diaphragms use two independent circuits. Any desired polar pattern, such as omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, supercardioid, and figure-eight, can be created before and after recording. Previously recorded material can be changed dynamically by adjusting the polar pattern, and room sound can be increased or decreased. The pattern is simple to set and change within the user’s DAW by using Lewitt’s Polarizer plug-in. The LCT 640 TS also makes it possible to rotate the microphone’s directivity by 180 degrees after recording. Recording in stereo with one LCT 640 TS, rather than with the usual two microphones, is possible in Dual Output Mode. In Multi-Pattern Mode, the LCT 640 TS has the usual characteristics of a studio multi-pattern condenser micro- phone and Lewitt’s Perfect Match technology guarantees that any two LCT 640 TS mics will always form a matched pair. L-Acoustics Syva Segment Source Speaker System L-Acoustics has launched the Syva high power speaker system, which features six medium- frequency and three high-frequency speakers in a J-shaped progressive curvature format. The transducer arrangement, called “segment source,” produces an H/V 140 x 26-degree (+5/-21 degrees) directivity pattern that is optimized for surface coverage and 115 ft. of throw. The Syva speaker system can be accompanied by the Syva Low high power subwoofer or Syva Sub infra extension to achieve 142dB max SPL. Its companion Syva Low enclosure features two K2-grade 12-in. drivers designed to provide low frequency contour and extended bandwidth down to 40 Hz. Similarly, Syva Sub features one KS28-grade 12-in. driver to further extend the bandwidth of the system in the infrasound domain down to 27 Hz. One LA4X amplified controller can drive up to four Syva enclosures. The Syva can be wall- or pole-mounted, flown, or used alone with its baseplate.
