Acoustic Geometry has added the CornerSorber to its Acoustic Bass Management ( ABM ) product line . These corner bass absorbers utilize Mass-Loaded Vinyl ( MLV ) absorption membranes in a design that mitigates low-frequency room modes for more accurate sound reproduction .
The ABM CornerSorber allows maximum pressure-zone room-mode reduction due to close-corner placement . The uniquely-shaped bass absorber is beveled on two sides and the top , allowing a pair of CornerSorbers to be set up 3 in . from , and parallel with , each corner wall , either vertically or horizontally , for an efficient and effective reduction of low-frequency room-mode pressure waves .

Waves Audio is now shipping the Waves Primary Source Expander ( PSE ) plug-in . PSE lets users reduce stage bleed and sensitivity to feedback when a mic is idle by automatically lowering mic levels between musical phrases , which is ideal for live sound and for mixing live recordings .
At the heart of the PSE is a precision expander , tailored especially for melodic sources . PSE works like a fader that smoothly attenuates the channel ’ s level when the source goes below the threshold that has been set . The user determines both the threshold and the amount of attenuation . Reducing stage noise leakage when microphones are idle will help users get an overall mix that is more coherent , focused , and has better phase relations .
