Commercial audio and intercom manufacturer TOA Canada Corporation has appointed Mitsuhiro Omura as its president and CEO .
Omura comes to North America
MITSUHIRO OMURA from TOA Corporation ’ s head office in Kobe , Japan . He will be based in New Jersey , dividing his time between Canada , the U . S ., and all of North and Central America . GM Rico Lucia and Controller Ellie Sun , both based at TOA Canada Corporation , will now report to Omura .

2017 NAMM Show Hosts Record Number of Exhibitors
The NAMM Show , North America ’ s largest musical products event , once again took over the Anaheim Convention Center from Jan . 19-22 , 2017 , and this year it continued its expansion into the pro audio market . Overall , 7,000 brands were represented by the record 1,779 exhibiting companies . There was also a two per cent growth in new exhibiting brands over last year . Overall show registration increased , primarily the result of member company badge allocations , by five per cent to 106,928 from 2016 .
Sound , studio , and stage professionals were served by the TEC Tracks program , which offered four themed days ( Live Sound and Lighting , Futurism , Recording , and Music Business ) and more than 75 educational opportunities featuring the high-profile names in the pro audio world , including Peter Asher , Tom and Chris Lord-Alge , and Mark Frink , among many others . On the Saturday , journalist Mr . Bonzai and Aerosmith engineer and producer Jack Douglas discussed the process of recording the classic Aerosmith album , Toys in the Attic , and surprised the crowd with a guest panellist : Aerosmith co-founder and lead guitarist Joe Perry . For the first time , The 2017 NAMM Show hosted training and certification sessions for Dante , which welcomed a capacity crowd . Software . NAMM , a showcase of music apps and technologies created in concert with IMSTA ( International Music Software Trade Association ), returned for its second year and featured music software and app developers showing off their latest offerings .

TOA Canada Corporation has announced a realignment of its sales territories , which is now in effect .
Warren Strem ’ s sales territory will now include the Northern Territories , including the Northwest Territories , Yukon , and Nunavut . He will also be responsible for British Columbia and Alberta .
Manitoba and Saskatchewan will now be part of Peter MacLean ’ s sales territory . MacLean has been with TOA Canada for eight years , working in the Atlantic Canada region for the past five years and Ontario before that . He will work with Barry Taylor to learn this new region .
Barry Taylor , a 32-year veteran of TOA Canada Corporation , will mentor both MacLean and Strem in his final year at TOA Canada before retiring in late 2017 .

Educational Schedule Released for Expo-Scène 2017
CITT / ICTS is preparing to welcome more than 60 exhibitors and over 1,200 visitors to Montreal for the third annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference , which is returning to the Palais des congrès de Montréal from April 12-13 , 2017 . Expo-Scène is currently the only major Canadian event dedicated to professionals in the pro audio , sound , lighting , audiovisual , video , and multimedia technology markets .
For this year , educational seminars in French and English are scheduled for the afternoon on both days of the show , spread across four studio spaces . Topics for these classes include live sound production , cargo transportation and customs , what you need to know about drones , real-word beamforming , integration , and more .
