Danielle Anusiem Danielle left The Bahamas in 2004 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Media Arts at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Anusiem’s matriculation through CAU's media program, combined with her outgoing personality and tenacity made way for her to work alongside some of the best in the media business, including the CNN team at Larry King Live and countless leading local news stations throughout the US. Anusiem’s vast experiences in the US and international media markets have translated into lifelong friendships and several media awards and prizes that she continues to treasure. Her new husband and his brother were instrumental in helping to jumpstart her unexpected career into makeup artistry, as they recognized her ability to flawlessly apply her own and the attention she paid to detail. Anusiem immediately became their go-to makeup artist for various video and photo shoots, and as her makeup craft elevated, so did requests and bookings from major players in the celebrity community. She has done makeup for the likes of Lisa-Raye McCoy, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Israel Houghton, Marvin Sapp, Miguel Nunez Jr. and more. By 2012, Anusiem had already made major strides in her makeup business, but slowed down briefly to give birth to her daughter who would again bring about a new and exciting shift in her career path. She took a short hiatus from makeup to nurture her new bundle. Her natural, creative energies and instinct never dissipated, though, and many began to take note of the creative way she dressed her baby girl. The new mother was complimented and approached daily about her daughter's well-coordinated, head-to-toe ensembles. Those comments quickly turned into requests, and without realizing it again, Anusiem’s gift was again making room for her, only this time in the children's apparel industry. However, the start of this new venture was no walk in the park. With just an initial investment of $1,000, Anusiem began selling the most unique, custom made children's clothing and accessories out of the trunk of her car, then at pop up shops and trunk shows. Finally, in 2015 Kalico Bay (formerly known as Dainty & Dapper Kids) had a storefront to call home in Nassau, Bahamas.Kalico Bay, in under two years of operation, has created a new standard for kids fashion in The Bahamas market and abroad, and continues to be set apart from the competition with Anusiem providing the most unique selection of kids apparel and accessories on the island, in addition to offering on-the-spot, custom styling services for her kid clients visiting the boutique. Anusiem is the Executive Producer of bi-annual Spring and Fall kids runway shows, the first of its kind ever to be hosted in The Bahamas. With this amazing platform, she continues to produce undeniable, handmade designs of her own that are featured on her runway alongside other world-class kids brands, many of which are sold exclusively at Kalico Bay in The Bahamas.
