Visual design studio PXLFLD deployed Hippotizer media servers from Green Hippo to provide the visual backdrop for a secret party and live performance by singer-songwriter Veronica Maggio at the Nobis Hotel in Stockholm , Sweden .
“ The stage was built in the hotel ’ s grand lobby . To maintain social distancing , the audience enjoyed the concert from their hotel rooms , looking down at the performance , while a multi-camera production was broadcast to their hotel room TV sets ,” explains PXLFLD ’ s Anders Granström . With this audience viewpoint in mind , the team opted for an LED floor beneath a plexiglass stage deck , while clusters of Barco projectors maximized the visual impact around the lobby .

The 29 th season of popular TV dance competition Dancing with the Stars returned to ABC in the fall . With no in-studio audience , lighting designer Tom Sutherland wanted to go for a larger look that featured 178 Robe MegaPointes .
Sutherland ’ s company , DX7 Design , was initially asked to develop lighting for the 2019 season by executive producer Andrew Llinares . The set – including the extensive video elements like a giant LED panel chandelier filled with lights – was designed by Florian Wieder . In addition to the MegaPointes , the were 16 Robe BMFL WashBeams and four BMFL Blades , which ran with four separate RoboSpot base station systems for remote operation . In total , around 900 lighting fixtures were used , all supplied by Felix Lighting .
In August 2020 , Matchroom Boxing and sports streaming service DAZN placed a boxing ring in the middle of the street in downtown Tulsa , OK . Omni Lighting in Tulsa was called on to light the boxing event and chose to support the action using an adaptable rig of Elation lights .
There were no fans present and strict social distancing and medical protocols in place for the full night of action . For high-visibility promotional lighting , Elation Artiste Mondrian moving heads were used to project logos onto the nearby 52-story BOK Tower skyscraper prior to and during the boxing matches . “ The throw is about two-and-a-half city blocks , which translates into a 1,018-ft . projection distance up to the building ,” says Omni Lighting ’ s Jeff Olsen . “ The 51,000 lumens got the job done and it looked great .”
During the COVID-19 pandemic , Toronto-based Bespoke Audio Visual is focused on bringing people together through elevated virtual events . The company has applied its wealth of industry experience and leveraged its substantial inventory of Clear-Com technology supplied by GerrAudio to allow for a depth of connection and interplay well beyond the average video call .
“ The big pivot , for us , was moving from one-directional webcasts with a time delay to a two-directional , remote presentation experience with low latency – and one that incorporates a virtual audience so everyone experiences the show in real time ,” says Bespokes Technical Manager , Andrew Bernacki . “ With fluent communication between operators , producers , and talent , everyone can interact with each other , on stage and behind the scenes , just like an in-person event , and the system can be customized as needed depending on the show .”
That solution relies on remote production control rooms , which are able to communicate with remote participants , producers , other control rooms , and even in-person event sites , all facilitated by a Clear-Com Eclipse Digital Matrix intercom system . That system allows each room to produce a managed , high-quality end product that combines the collaborative , real time elements of live in-person events with the remote viewing experience .
