Over 23,000 Take in InfoComm 2020 Connected
AVIXA hosted its first virtual InfoComm show – InfoComm 2020 Connected – from June 16-18 , bringing together AV professionals from around the globe to learn about the latest products , tune into keynotes and presentations on trends in technology and markets , and forge new relationships .
“ The enthusiasm and participation for InfoComm 2020 Connected exceeded expectations and reinforced something we already knew – the pro AV industry is resilient . Our world is undoubtedly changing , and we recognize the need to be agile and change with it . While we anticipate virtual and hybrid to be a part of the conversation , we look forward to when we ’ ll return to the in-person event and everyone joins us for InfoComm 2021 in Orlando ,” says Rochelle Richardson , SVP of expositions and events at AVIXA .
Total registrations for InfoComm Connected came to 23,408 , and 41 % of attendees were from outside the U . S . The show featured 495 exhibitors and there were 53,433 views of the exhibitor showcases . The show ’ s sessions were highly viewed – totalling 59,662 – with 74 live sessions and on-demand presentations from 67 companies . Live sessions were presented for 11 hours each day to reach attendees globally . Popular topics included conferencing and collaboration ; fusing space , technology , and content ; trends that have emerged through the COVID crisis ; higher education ; and the state of the industry .
As well , attendees embraced virtual networking during InfoComm 2020 Connected . The association says 1,117 exhibitor meetings were scheduled and 14,277 chat messages were exchanged .

NAB Show NY Being Converted to an Online Event
The NAB Show New York is being converted to an online event because of COVID-19 concerns and restrictions . The 2020 show was originally going to be co-located with the AES Convention from Oct . 21-22 at the Javits Convention Center ; instead , it will now run online from Oct . 19-29 , 2020 .
“ The online event will take place in fall 2020 and include TVNewsCheck ’ s TV2025 and Post | Production World Online , produced in partnership with Future Media Conferences , among other prominent conference programs . Our goal for the digital experience is to provide a valuable forum for the industry to restart , refocus , and reengage ,” says Chris Brown , NAB ’ s EVP of conventions and business operations . “ We are developing a robust platform for exhibitors to share product information , provide demonstrations , and make announcements . Additionally , the online event will provide premium educational content and unique opportunities for the community to network virtually .”

LightFair Conference Still on Track for May 2021
The 2021 edition of LightFair is currently scheduled for May 16-20 , 2021 in New York . In addition to reaching a broad range of lighting professionals , the 2021 show joins NYCxDESIGN ’ s roster of design-focused events , panels , and experiences .
“ The LightFair Conference is the hallmark educational event of the year for the lighting industry , where the best and the brightest come together to cultivate the collective body of knowledge for this ever-changing and technical field ,” says Show Director Dan Darby . “ The 2021 conference ’ s staging during NYCxDESIGN expands the impact of the content by making it a part of a global discussion on design .”
The conference will feature various learning durations , modalities , and levels . In-depth studies of topics will be presented as one-day courses , two-day courses , and three-hour workshops , and in shorter 60-minute , 90-minute , and three-hour sessions . The session formats will include : Experiential Learning , where participants are actively engaged with the session ; Rapid Fire , with four presenters separately sharing big ideas on a related topic ; panel presentations ; moderated discussions , with a moderator leading a discussion or debate ; tours of local lighting installations or significant projects ; and traditional lectures . Course levels are designated as Foundational , Intermediate , Advanced , and All Levels .
