Marita Agnes Ferguson
Ms. Marita Agnes Ferguson was born on April 27th, 1954 to the late Clarence William and
Lillian Alice Ferguson in the settlement of Fox Hill on the Island of New Providence, in the
Bahamas.
She attended St. Anselm’s Primary School and Aquinas College High School where she
graduated in 1973.She is also a member of Scared Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Upon receiving her education, Ms. Ferguson was employed with the Bahamas Public Service
since August 12th, 1974 where she worked at the Ministry of Education for more than 35
years. As a result of her loyalty and dedication to the Bahamas Public Service; and her
obvious passion and love for children, she was offered an opportunity to serve in the Ministry
of Social Services in the capacity of Assistant Administrator for the Early Childhood Centre.
Her love, dedication, care and exemplary service to and for the children at the Centre
afforded her the opportunity to be promoted and transferred to The Bahamas Children’s
Emergency Hostel in September 2009 where she presently serves in the capacity of the
Administrator.
It was at that breathtaking moment that she realized the reality of her deep love for children;
she was always compassionate about children and stated that she has found her purpose
since joining the Children’s Hostel. She continues to display a great sense of responsibility
and pride in the operation of the Home and the well-being of the residents.
Her mission is to become an advocate to and for the needy and less fortunate children;
standing in the gap and providing a voice and the maternal presence for them when and
wherever possible.
An important aspect of Ms. Fergusons life is family; she has one daughter and two
granddaughters. Her future goals are to make life count and bring a positive change in
whatever way she can. Marita have made a steadfast decision to trust God and love herself
for the gem that he created.
