Ricardo P. Deveaux
Ricardo P. Deveaux is a 1985 graduate of the R. M. Bailey Senior High School, a 1990
graduate of Bethune-Cookman College (now University) with a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Psychology with honours and a 1992 graduate of Nova Southeastern University with
Master of Science Degree in Human Services with a specialization in Human Resource
Management. In May 2009, he delivered the commencement address at
Bethune-Cookman University and was awarded the Honourary Doctorate of Humane
Letters. He is only the second Bahamian and one of the youngest individuals to deliver the
coveted commencement address at Bethune-Cookman University. In July 2012, he was
awarded a Chinese Government Fellowship at Perking University, China and spent, one
month and was awarded the Certificate in Public Administration.
He is employed with the Bahamas Government since 1992. He is currently stationed at the
Ministry of Labour as a First Assistant Secretary.
Yearning to impact his community and his country, Ricardo was instrumental in the
establishment of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program, a
premier awards scheme in The Bahamas. The awards program has recognized over 2,000
of the BEST and BRIGHTEST primary school students and awarded over $1.3 million
dollars’ worth of scholarships and prizes since 1997. He currently serves as President &
Chief Executive Office of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation, a
non-profit volunteer organization.
Ricardo is currently the PTA Vice-President at Queen's College and the Chairman of the
School Board for R. M. Bailey Senior High School.
He is married to Pamela J. Deveaux, nee Cunningham, a Chartered Accountant. They are
the proud parents of two daughters - Richea Juanita and Paige Aaliyah Deveaux. He is the
