Justine joined McKinney, Bancroft & Hughes in 2006 and practices
in the firm’s litigation department. She frequently appears before
the court on a wide range of matters including cross-border
disputes, liquidations, employment, matrimonial and child custody
disputes and adoptions.
Justine is highly skilled in achieving smart solutions for her clients
and is committed to providing premium service in the delivery or all
legal services.
Since joining the Partnership, Justine has successfully completed
The Lex Mundi Institute’s Foundation Management Program in
Monterey, California.
Before embarking on her legal studies Justine obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from The
University of Western Ontario in Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of
Reading in England and completed the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School in England. Justine
also holds a Masters of Law Degree from the University of London.
In 2005 she was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of The Honourable Society
of Lincoln’s Inn, and then to The Bahamas Bar in September of that same year. She is also a member
of the Bahamas Bar Association.
Justine has been called upon to address administrators and teachers of the Ministry of Education on
the Child Protection Act and its impact on the implementation of policies and procedures for child
care centers throughout The Bahamas and was a guest speaker at the Workforce Readiness Program
for unemployed women.
Justine is a proud member of The Zonta Club of New Providence and was recently appointed as a
member of the Health Professions Council.
Justine is married to Kimani Smith. They are the proud parents of two children, Kai and Kingston.
