Nicola’s career in the Financial Services Industry started at Touché Ross & Co. as a trainee accountant where she assisted with the audits of various institutions along with Senior Auditors, inclusive of retail banks, private banks, hotels and gas stations. Due to observations of her work ethic on one such assignment, she was offered a job at Gotthard Bank, which she accepted and remained there for 12 ½ years while also pursuing studies in Finance. She then commenced employment with Credit Suisse Trust Limited, Bahamas and moved up the ranks, within two years obtaining the rank of Assistant Vice-President. At year 2 with this organization, the opportunity came to work at UBS Trustees (Bahamas) Limited. She started as a part of UBS’s Review Team, and after a year, she transitioned to head their Private Label Banks and Special projects units. She was then tasked with the responsibility of starting and heading their New Business unit. She was a part of the company’s Management Team and rose through the ranks to become one of two Bahamians to initially obtain the rank of Executive Director. After 12 years at UBS, the opportunity came to work at The Bank of Nova Scotia Trustees (Bahamas) Limited, which she took. She has been employed at Scotia Trust for the past 4 ½ years and currently holds the position of Director Fiduciary Services, where she leads a team of 20 persons. Nicola holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance majoring in Private Banking from the University of The Bahamas and a Master’s Degree from the University of Miami. She is a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and holds the designation TEP. She is also a Fellow of The Bahamas Institute of Financial Services. In November 2016, she was awarded an Industry Excellence award as a nominee for Executive of the Year in the Financial Services Industry. She supports various charities in conjunction with her work; her exercise group and personally. She has assisted at the Elizabeth Estates Children’s home and the Children’s Emergency Hostel..
