Pia Farmer ( née Nyborg-Andersen ) was born in Buenos Aires , Argentina , in 1959 and emigrated to The Bahamas with her family in 1974 , becoming a Bahamian Citizen in 1993 . She graduated from St . Andrew ' s School in Nassau , and earned a BA ( Hons .) in Spanish and French from Westfield College , University of London , UK .
Upon her return to The Bahamas , Pia was employed as a Spanish teacher at Aquinas College , followed by a successful career in the real estate sales and marketing field . In 1987 , in partnership with her husband John , she launched a computer sales and service business ,
“ Custom Computers Ltd .”, which over the past 30 years has become one of the leading technology companies in the country .
. In the interim , Mrs . Farmerestablished a Public Relations company , “ Splash ! P . R .”, and “ Mendoza Imports ”, providing wines from Argentina . In 2016 , Pia ' s love of The Bahamas and her concern for the environment led her to create a new ECO division in “ Easy Car Sales ”, her husband ' s existing car business , offering 100 % electric vehicles to the Bahamian market .
This has become a passion . Her mission is to reduce the number of combustion engine vehicles in the country , reducing harmful emissions , and freeing Bahamians from the burdens of fossil fuel dependence .
In 2010 Mrs . Farmer was appointed Honorary Danish Consul to The Bahamas by HRH Queen Margrethe of Denmark . Fluent in Spanish , French , and Danish , Pia serves as a Director and Corporate Secretary for the Board of St . Andrew ' s School , and actively supports several charitable and civic organizations in the country .
She enjoys the Performing Arts and traveling . Mrs . Farmer has been married to John G . Farmer for 35 years , and they have two children , Sonia ( 30 ) and Liam ( 28 ).
