Pavia C. Crossgill is a graduate of Queen’s College, class of 2000. She
went on to further her studies obtaining an Associates of Arts degree from
the College of the Bahamas and a Bachelors of Laws Degree with Honors
from the University of Buckingham, Buckingham United Kingdom.
Thereafter, Pavia attended Northumbria University, in Newcastle Upon
Tyne, United Kingdom where she successfully completed the Bar
Vocational Course. Pavia was admitted as Counsel and Attorney-at-Law
to the Bar of England and Wales and the Bahamas Bar in September and
October, 2006 respectively. Pavia has been an active member of the legal
profession for the past eleven years. Upon her return home from
university, she completed her pupilage at Higgs & Johnson Law Firm
where she was later offered an associateship in the firms’ litigation
department. Over the next six years
Pavia was involved in civil and commercial litigation. With a keen interest in the commercial practice,
Pavia joined the Bahamas Electricity Corporation, now known as Bahamas Power and Light as the
Manager of Legal Services. Her duties involved monitoring and ensuring the corporation’s compliance
with legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures. Pavia also gave guidance on the interpretation
of Industrial Agreements and the negotiation process.
In September 2013 Pavia was offered a position as Senior Manager, Legal & Regulatory with BTC, which
position she holds to date. She is responsible for the management of the company’s contracts which
includes, during, negotiating and advising on the interpretation of contracts and agreements as well as
conflict resolution on contractual disputes.
Further, Pavia is responsible for the management of litigious matters comprising of drafting pleadings,
submission of applications before the courts, mediation and negotiating on the company’s behalf. She
is also required to prepare reports on the status of matters for Executive and Board Members.
Apart from her professional responsibilities, in her spare time, Pavia enjoys reading, gardening and
cooking. She is the proud mother of two beautiful children, Carlyle (7) and Caila (3).
