The V-TEC™ Personal Fall Limiter with aluminium scaff hook delivers durable protection that is both quick and easy to use, and comfortable to wear all day, every day thanks to its light- weight construction. The scaffolding industry remains in the top three of the Occupational Safety and Health Admin’s (OSHA) most cited violations with the most frequent transgression relating to “Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level.” The very nature of their work means scaffolders, when erecting, altering or dismantling scaffolding, are regularly exposed to the risk of a fall. In addition, scaffolders often work in adverse weather conditions – rain, high winds and ice can all significantly increase the risk of a fall. In the UK, the National Access and Scaffolding Safety Confed- eration has produced its recom- mendations and guidance SG4:15 Preventing Falls in Scaffolding Operations which includes: “Kara- biners that are designed especially for attaching to scaffold standards make an effective and efficient anchor device.” The V-TEC PFL is a compact and dura- ble self-retracting lanyard incorpo- rating innovative energy absorbing technology. Its pedigree comes from developments in the high-tech au- tomotive indus- try combining an ultra-tough polycar- bonate transparent outer casing that facili- tates inspection. www.msasafety.com THE FIRST SWEET As the first orders of Sweet, the rev- olutionary door furniture range start to come in from the initial wave of customers, the very first door has now been installed with this registered curved design in hard- ware to spectacular effect. With stocks arriving at the end of July, this was a photographic opportunity too Sweet to miss with the first batch of product samples, which have also gone through a successful and comprehensive testing programme for weather resistance and op- erating cycles. Over the coming weeks and months some highly trusted and respected brands will in turn announce their Sweet adoption. The installation itself featured handle, letterplate, knocker and numeral from the Sweet range, along with a 3 Star Ultion cylinder, all from Brisant Secure. In this interesting case study, the door itself was a bespoke arched PVCu frame with carefully manufactured door slab in a rich blue and installed on a 1950’s suburban home. Nick Dutton CEO of Brisant Secure commented: “We’ve brought in some early samples for testing, sales presentations and to get onto the first door.” INCONSPICUOUS DRAUGHT STRIPPING FOR STEEL DOORS Designed to provide a neat way of draught-proof- ing internal steel doors, the W20 profile end cap is now available from Steel Win- dow Association members and can be factory-fitted into the bottom of internal www.sweet-doors.co.uk pivot or sliding doors of any size. The end cap offers an inconspicuous alternative to the brass draught strips that have traditionally been surface-mounted along the bottom edge of doors. The new, specially moulded profile is made of rolled aluminium and installed to close off the W20 end sec- tion during the fabrication of the door; it is finished to match the door’s colour. The draught stripping then slides into the aluminium section with the option of either a rubber strip or a wool pile brush strip which can be of varying sizes de- pending on the width of the gap under the door. Traditional steel window screens are being ‘reinvent- ed’ to meet unprecedent- ed demand for bespoke internal glazed partitions in high-end schemes and doors are often an integral part. Door thresholds are unnecessary, so the finished floor is uninterrupted. www.steel-window- association.co.uk
