In response to growing concerns amongst consumers and rising media reports on lock snapping, Yale is encouraging installers to advise their customers on the best door hardware to help prevent such attacks and ensure their home security is up to standard. With this in mind, Yale has recently launched a new Platinum 3 Star Cylinder, designed to defend homes with its anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-pick and anti-drill technology, enabling installers to offer customers an innovative solution that will deter even the most determined intruder. The cylinder has been independently tested by the BSI (British Standards Institution), to be awarded the British Kitemarked TS007:2014 3 Star accreditation, meaning no additional security furniture is required to comply with the standard. As a result, installers can simplify the range of door hardware they carry and encourage price conscious customers to upgrade, as they do not have to replace the whole door set. The cylinder has also been approved by Secured by Design, the official UK Police initiative supporting the principles of designing out crime. The Yale Platinum 3 Star Cylinder has a snap-off front section that sacrificially breaks away if attacked, meaning there is less of the cylinder to grip. It also has advanced pin tumbler technology and durable nylon key head for ease of grip and identification. Steve Ross, cylinder business development manager for Yale’s parent company Assa Abloy, said: “We are committed to developing products to help combat known methods of cylinder attack and the Yale Platinum 3 Star Cylinder is no exception. This product enables installers to provide their customers with a robust security offering that doesn’t break the bank and can be easily fitted in a matter of minutes.” Available in both brass and chrome finishes, the cylinder comes supplied with three keys as standard and is available in Box or Visi packaging.
