30 NOVEMBER 2015 PRO INSTALLER PRO NEWS www.proinstaller.co.uk Singing salesman Due to an unprecedented response to the launch of Liniar’s installation supplies range, the innovative company has moved quickly to recruit an enthusiastic new sales manager to help manage the influx of inquiries – and he can’t wait to ‘tune in’ to the company’s success. He joins Liniar from Rapier Star where he spent more than 11 years as Technical Sales Manager for the North. “I began my career as an office junior before moving on to technical support and then being sent out on the road. And I’ve been on the road ever since,” says Phil. “I’ve always been very passionate about the technical side of things and that’s one of many elements that attracted me to Liniar.” Working with Business Development Director Tony Basile, Phil will be visiting window fabricators all over the UK, then focusing on the Northern Region If the name Phil Turner doesn’t ring a bell with those in the industry, then the face and voice might spark memories of him leading an impromptu singalong session with his guitar in the bar of the Holiday Inn after the Gala Dinner at the last FIT Show. in the longer term. We caught up with Phil to find out what attracted Liniar’s new Northern Region Sales Manager of Building Supplies and Roofs to the company. So what are Phil’s ambitions for his new role? “My aim is to build on the brand and make my mark with Liniar. I’d like my contribution to have an influence on the future success of the business. I’m looking forward to being part of this excellent team, working with our valued customers and bringing even greater success.” www.liniar.co.uk A WINNING PARTNERSHIP The Construction Marketing Awards recognises marketing excellence across the built environment. It’s no surprise that start-up business, The Window Outlet, was delighted after being shortlisted for its marketing campaign, which helped generate over £1m turnover in year one. The Window Outlet was set up in September 2014, by business partners Ben Warren and Clive Uppington, as a manufacturer of AluK products. The pair have a combined experience of over 40 years in the window industry, but when it came to doing what they do best they wanted to focus on running the business, and turned to Purplex Marketing to get its products to market. Ben comments: “Purplex know the window industry inside out and are the perfect marketing partner for The Window Outlet. ‘The Window Outlet have gone from strength to strength’ Its product knowledge, matched with its marketing skills, has played a major role in the success of The Window Outlet - helping set up and build the brand, develop a mobile friendly website and creating a continuous flow of leads via targeted email campaigns, newsletters and online marketing.” With a winning partnership in place, The Window Outlet has gone from strength to strength, for that reason Purplex account manager Adi Day suggested that they should be put forward for the Construction Marketing Awards marketing campaign of the year (under £25k bracket). The awards ceremony is due to take place in London on the 9th December. www.puplexmarketing.co.uk TEN OUT OF TEN When the owners of 12 Lake District holiday cottages were looking for the right window installer for a major upgrade, they didn’t just ask to see a couple of previous jobs – they asked for ten. That was no problem for VEKA Approved Installer and Glazerite customer Andrew Richardson Windows & Joinery and now, 82 VEKA vertical sliders later, Andrew has a dozen more to show the next customer. Andrew said: “Glazerite was very helpful in providing all the information the owners wanted and even came up with a sample window. The windows look fantastic – you would never know they were PVCu without getting up close.” The look of the Glazerite VS obviously impressed local planners. A full application had to be made as the cottages are in a Conservation Area, and only a visual match to the old timber frames would be acceptable, but they were approved without problems. The windows are also SBD accredited. The owners not only liked what they saw but were also impressed that Andrew would be doing all the work himself and so would take responsibility for everything, though they needn’t have worried – the whole installation went without hitches. Jason Thompson, Director of Glazerite Windows Ltd, said: “The Glazerite-VEKA VS is one of the most authentic-looking on the market, especially with the run-through sash horns, so it is ideal for use in a Conservation Area or anywhere else where a heritage appearance is important.” www.glazeritewindows.co.uk
