Care group comes back for more
Yorkshire-based Spectus approved window contractor Jade Windows has won a second contract for the award-winning Yorkare care home group - after installing more than 200 casement windows and patio doors in the group ’ s most recent addition .
Yorkare builds homes around Humberside and has the motto ‘ Homes of Distinction .’ The first contract was for the conversion of the former Lindsey Lower School in Cleethorpes via main contractor Hobson & Porter . Jade made and installed the windows in the Spectus Elite 70 Bevelled system in anthracite grey smooth foil finish for a new-built extension which formed a major part of the home behind the school ’ s original Victorian frontage .
The client ’ s insistence on detail meant that the PVCu doors had to be specially routered out to fit electric drop bolts so that all the mechanisms were out of sight . The customer achieved their desired look thanks to Jade ’ s ‘ customer first ’ attitude and Spectus ’ s technical team providing first class advice .
The next Yorkare project for Jade , a new-build at Beverley , is now underway and expected to be completed by the coming autumn .

SCENIC SEASIDE INSTALLATION
When a resident of one of Yorkshire ’ s best-known seaside conservation areas chose to replace timber windows with PVCu , it sparked interest . Neighbours of the house , beside Scarborough ’ s Victorian Esplanade , had not realised that the new windows and French doors were not timber .
The frames were in the Residence9 system fabricated by The Glazerite UK Group Ltd and the result , in white foil finish was ‘ a dream job ’ according to sales manager , Barry Smith .
“ It was the first R9 installation in this area ,” he said . “ It ’ s also generated a lot of interest from neighbouring properties , especially in and around the Conservation Area .
“ When the owner first came to us , he was looking at vertical sliders in another system but immediately changed his mind when he saw the Residence9 . It was easily the closest thing to the timber he was replacing and the result speaks for itself .”

The Federation of Master Builders ( FMB ) has joined the National Home Improvement Council ( NHIC ) - adding its voice to influential organisations which share the NHIC ’ s ambitions to raise standards and protect consumers when it comes to home improvements in the UK . The FMB will work closely alongside companies , trade associations and accreditation providers such as British Gas , Which ? Trusted Trader and NAPIT for building services . This is particularly important in the UK , which suffers the legacy of Europe ’ s oldest and least thermally efficient housing stock .
The FMB will bring its own influence and links to SME builders and will play a key part in NHIC ’ s
