gets traditional
The Vertical Slider Window System from VEKA has
been used exclusively in the re-glazing of a large social
housing development in West London’s Notting Hill.
Fabricated and installed by Sovereign
Group Ltd, the substantial order for
Winterbourne House
totalled 369 Matrix
70 frames, delivered
and installed over
a four-month period
from October 2014 to
January 2015.

presentation of properties
in the area is taken very
seriously.
“The VEKA UK Group’s
Vertical Slider was the perfect replacement window
for this project, fulfilling all
the planners’ and landlord’s
criteria. Not only was a
system required that would
address the shortcomings of
its predecessor but also one
that authentically complemented the building’s 1930s
architecture.

the bill on all fronts and,
besides receiving the landlord’s commendation for
the system’s many attributes and the quality of our
installation, we’re told that
feedback from the residents
has been excellent too.
A range of transoms and mullions provide
additional multi-light and stick construction
curtain walling configurations to complement this user-friendly window design and
deliver effective fenestration solutions for
commercial buildings.
The Sheerframe 8000 Top Reversible
window is part of an enhanced thermal
performance range which offers specifiers,
fabricators and professional installers the
widest range of fixed and opening light
combinations.
The 70mm window profiles are extruded
from calcium organic lead-free Sheerblend
impact modified PVCu complying with BS
EN 12608 and feature thermally-efficient
Thermlock frame reinforcements, five separate insulating chambers and twin co-extruded weather seals to maximize weather
performance.
Top Reversible windows can achieve U
values as low 1.2W/m2K using standard
28mm double glass with Argon gas fill. To
exceed Part L of the Building Regulations,
triple glazed low energy Zero Carbon
windows with U values down to 0.8W/m2K
are also available, using either 36mm triple
glass with Krypton gas fill or 44mm triple
glass.
The Sheerframe 8000 Top Reversible is
fitted with the reversing Sheerturn hinge
allowing the window to open out traditionally, retaining the advantages of a casement
but reversing for safer cleaning from inside
the property.
As an optional specification, this window
can also be configured as a Side Reversible.
The hardware for a Side Reversible is similar in operation but allows the windows to
