This BFRC certificate is specific to the property and the products purchased and will feature the installers name and date of installation as well as the well-knowan ‘rainbow’ colour label. The ratings displayed will be ‘A+’ to ‘C’ for windows and ‘A+’ to ‘G’ for doors It is the only such certificate available in the UK glazing sector. This certificate is a valuable new marketing tool for installers. Issuing of the certificate can be promot- ed by the installer to the homeowner as a value added benefit of using that company. It will also link the new windows or doors supplied with the installation company and could facilitate ‘word of mouth’ recommendation. It is issued at the same time as the FENSA certificate and can be supplied with no extra administration for the installer. Just tick the box at the point of notification on the FENSA website. It costs just £1.50 (ex VAT). “The industry asked for a window energy rating homeowner certificate – and here it is,” commented BFRC MD Chris Mayne. “With all homeowners asked wanting one too it shows how right our installers were.” 020 7403 9200 [email protected] UK Builders Celebrate Growth In Construction Britain’s leading construction firms have joined a digital celebration of the hundreds of infrastructure projects creating jobs and growth across the country. From bridges to flood defences, firms sent dozens of pictures of the schemes with signs declaring “We are BuildingBritain”. The photos were added to a dedicated blog page highlighting the work taking place. Infrastructure company Kier took dozens of photos of its staff working on big projects, including the £8 million Western Link road from Berryfields to Buckingham in the Midlands. In Hayle, Cornwall, 21 workers from Bowmer & Kirkland, the construction company working on the redevelopment of South Quay, held up signs to demonstrate their commitment. Other firms which took part included Carillion, Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Atkins, Crossrail, Centria, Laing O’Rourke and Simons, while industry bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Building, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, also backed the scheme. The digital celebration coincided with the Prime Minister’s recent announcement that £36 billion worth of projects will begin this year, creating 15,000 jobs. Visit We are #BuildingBritain Tumblr to see some of the projects. Revamped Green Deal launches this month The government’s revamp of the controversial Green Deal, the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund - providing grants of up to £7,600 against energy efficiency measures such as insulation, new boilers and double glazing – will be launched this month. This replaces the original Green Deal under which households borrowed money to fund improvements and repaid it through their energy bills. Take-up of the latter was disappointing – despite a £125m cashback incentive
