BRAIN-TO-VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY REDEFINES FUTURE OF DRIVING

Latest breakthrough in Nissan Intelligent Mobility promises cars that learn from driver Nissan unveiled research today that will enable vehicles to interpret signals from the driver ’ s brain , redefining how people interact with their cars .
The company ’ s Brain-to-Vehicle , or B2V , technology promises to speed up reaction times for drivers and will lead to cars that keep adapting to make driving more enjoyable . Nissan will demonstrate capabilities of this exclusive technology
at the CES 2018 trade show in Las Vegas . B2V is the latest development in Nissan Intelligent Mobility , the company ’ s vision for transforming how cars are driven , powered and integrated into society .
This breakthrough from Nissan is the result of research into using brain decoding technology to predict a driver ’ s actions and detect discomfort :
Predict : By catching signs that the driver ’ s brain is about to initiate a movement – such as turning the steering wheel or pushing the accelerator pedal – driver assist technologies can begin the action more
quickly . This can improve reaction times and enhance manual driving .
Detect : By detecting and evaluating driver discomfort , artificial intelligence can change the driving configuration or driving style when in autonomous mode .
Nissan ’ s B2V technology is the world ’ s first system of its kind . The driver wears a device that measures brain wave activity , which is then analyzed by autonomous systems . By anticipating intended movement , the systems can
take actions – such as turning the steering wheel or slowing the car – 0.2 to 0.5 seconds faster than the driver , while remaining largely imperceptible .

Toughest pickup to help tackle plastic pollution on UK ’ s most remote beaches

LONDON , UK ( June 7 , 2018 ) – Nissan ’ s toughest pickup has turned volunteer in a new film to mark World Oceans Day 2018 ( Friday June 8 ) and celebrate UK community heroes tackling beach plastic pollution .
A Cornish dad and daughter team ’ s plea for help with their local Beach Guardian project , inspired Nissan to volunteer its toughest pickup to help clear rubbish from some of Cornwall ’ s remotest beaches .
Beach Guardian is the brainchild of Emily Stevenson ( 21 ), a marine biology student , and her father Rob ( 50 ). The pair have been clearing waste from beaches in Cornwall for 10 years . They decided to set up the community group after realising the plastic problem was getting worse . They amassed an army of local volunteers to help , but they were struggling to reach remote locations and remove bulky rubbish with their family
car , so they posted a request for help on social media . Nissan responded by volunteering the new Navara OFF-ROADER AT32 , which can be fitted with a snorkel and is designed for the most extreme landscapes . It helped Beach Guardian take on their most challenging beach plastic clean-up to date , reaching over rocky terrain and removing debris like plastic nets that had been deeply embedded in the sand for more than two years .
More than eight million tonnes of plastic end up in the world ’ s oceans every year with devastating consequences for marine wildlife , fisheries and tourism . During its recent Great British Beach Clean Up , the Marine Conservation Society found 718 pieces of litter for every 100 metre stretch of UK beach surveyed . https :// beachclean . net
