MOMENTOUS YEAR

Window and door systems brand Profile 22 - owned by Epwin Window Systems Division - has won the New Product of the Year category at this year ’ s G Awards .
It was the perfect celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Epwin Group and what has now become the most momentous year in its recent history . The prize was awarded for Optima , Profile 22 ’ s window system . In making their decision the G Awards judges commented : “ An incredible achievement to get from concept to production in such a short time . This suite of profiles seems to provide an answer to most window needs .” Clare O ’ Hara , managing director of Epwin Window Systems Division , said the G Awards New Product of the Year title was a tribute to teamwork . “ Our sales figures and other professional key performance indicators tell us that we are way ahead of our expectations for Optima but there is nothing like winning a G Award to cement that success .” Epwin says Profile 22 Optima represents ‘ the
largest and most significant launch by a window systems company for at least a decade .’ This is true in terms of the size and complexity of the product offer ; of the comprehensive systems and support facilities provided for customers and users of the products ; and of the investment in manufacturing infrastructure , all of which were considered by the G Awards judges .

Tailor-made insurance

The Single Ply Roofing Association ( SPRA ) has teamed up with GGFi Ltd to launch a homeowners ’ insurance scheme . It will apply to customers of SPRA members and their approved contractors . The scheme has been designed specifically for domestic properties with a single ply roofing element and gives homeowners the reassurance of being covered by a tailor-made insurance product . Roof Assured by Sarnafil are members of the SPRA and the scheme is available to their approved installers and customers . Roof Assured by Sarnafil installers are reminded during their training of the need to make customers aware they must notify their buildings insurers when they make any structural changes to their home . Installers will now be able to advise customers about this new scheme so they can consider it when carrying out their buildings insurance price and content comparisons . Launching the scheme SPRA announced : “ SPRA often receives feedback from customers who sometimes find it difficult to insure their home because of their single ply roof . As single ply roofing grows in popularity as a reliable , cost effective option within the domestic market , it has become apparent to SPRA that the insurance market has not kept apace . “ It is for this reason that SPRA has teamed up with GGFi Ltd to arrange a special buildings insurance for its members ’ domestic customers . Underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyd ’ s the scheme is only available to customers of SPRA members and their approved contractors .”

A WOW AT GRAND DESIGNS

VBH and Invisifold hosted a stand at the Grand Designs Live exhibition in Birmingham to promote the greenteQ Invisifold Slide & Fold door and window system .
The stand featured Invisifold doors , a three-pane Invisifold casement window and a three-pane Invisifold conservatory window . The show was open to the public for five days and was well attended with 63,344 visitors . Many had come to the show specifically to look for bi-fold doors and were impressed at the flexibility of Invisifold . Stand staff demonstrated that Invisifold can be fully closed and secure , fully open to provide a clear opening or used just as a single sash passage door in the same way as a bi-fold or French door .
VBH staff explained that Invisifold differs from a bi-fold door in that the sashes are all operated independently and that they can also be positioned anywhere across the opening to provide ventilation without having the door fully open . This , along with the realisation that all the hardware is concealed when the door or window is closed , was the wow factor for most visitors . VBH and Invisifold were supported at the show in October by systems houses Kömmerling , Rehau , Selecta and Veka , and by fabricator Flair Plastic Products , which is already manufacturing around five Invisifold doors each week .
VBH Systems sales manager Rob Norman said : “ Grand Designs Live gave us a perfect platform to put Invisifold directly in front of people who are looking for innovative new ideas for their self-build and renovation projects . “ Our door has achieved approval to the PAS 24 security test at BSI and complies with the requirements of Document Q for new builds . This is an important consideration for anyone considering a new build .”
