33 PRO INSTALLER DECEMBER 2015 PRO SPORT @proinstaller1 Darts Champ Chooses High Performance and Strength Darts legend Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has chosen a high performance Meridian composite door as the new entrance to his home. The 16-time world champion player picked the 70mm double-rebated door from Phoenix Doors, part of MASCO UK Window Group. It was supplied in a black finish with chrome hardware and installed at Phil’s home in Stokeon-Trent by Supercraft Conservatories Windows as part of a wider home improvement project. Supercraft Managing Director Fab Mogadam said that although his client’s existing front door was only about five years old, he wanted to upgrade it for the greater privacy, security and thermal-efficiency provided by the Secured by Design-accredited Meridian product. Within a week of taking delivery, Phil ordered a second Meridian to replace his PVCu back door. Fab said: “People are very positive about the Meridian’s triple weather seals and 50mm triple-glazing. Phil’s old door had too much glass for his liking so the four smaller panes in the new one are more to his taste.” The two men have been friends for years and Fab has carried out work on Phil’s various homes over the last 25 years, including most recently new PVCu windows and a large orangery. Flyball is a fast-paced dog sport which sees animals race over hurdles to reach a spring-loaded box which releases a tennis ball that must be brought back to the start. Teams of four dogs race against each other in a relay and the first to have all dogs cross the finish line, without error, wins the heat. Shane and Yvonne’s son and daughter-in-law established the family-based team in 2009 after developing an interest in the sport. The couple broke the current European record with an incredibly fast time of 15.74 seconds. Shane explains: “Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?! Our team has been getting better and better over the years and we are delighted to have become the British and European record holders. “There have been a few ‘firsts’ for Wonderdogs this year: in August, WOW Wonderdogs ran in the first British race that ended with both teams finishing in less than 16 seconds. It was the first European team to run under 16 seconds indoors and Yvonne and the guys set the new British and European record by running 15.74 seconds. “Yvonne and I are very proud of everyone in the team, both human and ca- nine, and we’re grateful for the support that The VEKA UK Group has been kind enough to offer.” The VEKA UK Group’s Sales and Marketing Director Colin Torley commented: “We’re always pleased to celebrate our staff in all their endeavours, and it’s great to hear that the company’s sponsorship played a part in the team’s success. We’ll look forward to seeing which records Shane, Yvonne and the team will break next!”
