Beat burglars with a secure front door Survey results show that only 16% of Brits think to burglar proof their front door first to prevent burglary attempts, despite data from England and Wales police showing that 90% of attempts are successful. During the period June 2015-May 2016 there were 397,643 recorded burglaries by England and Wales police forces according to data from the UK police’s official website data.police.uk In 277,300 cases the investigations had been completed and no suspect was identified. 79,625 cases are still under investigation, meaning a staggering 90% of recorded burglary attempts during this 12-month period were successful. With these statistics in mind, Truedor.co.uk surveyed 2,000 people in the United Kingdom to ask them: ‘What do you think is the best deterrent to stop burglaries on your property?’ 23% of those questions came back with burglar alarm, followed by CCTV with 20%. Clive Stewart, chairman of the Essex County Neighbourhood Watch Association said: “There are many households that do not take specific care to lock their PVCu doors sufficiently despite having reminders from the police. The police can only keep up the practice of sending out messages to remind people to protect their own property and also help those who may feel vulnerable. Then it is up to everyone to try their very best to take this advice and reduce the opportunity of crime.” Truedor offers ‘Truly Secure’ composite doors, fitted with high security multi-point locking systems as standard. To take the security of their composite doors to an even higher level, they also fit specially designed dog bolt system as standard. This involves two sets of triple hinge bolts that secure the composite door to the frame, protecting homeowners against intruders. In their design, they also aim to make fitting composite doors easier. The project, a modern garden room extension with an atrium roof light, was at the Llandudno home of Matthew Jones, who owns an architects practice. PatioMaster North West, one of PatioMaster’s nine dealers across the UK and Ireland, fabricated the four pane patio doors in slate grey on white sliding doors, while local installer company, A55 Plastics, completed the installation. Homeowner Matthew said: “We are really pleased with the finished results. The doors met all our expectations in terms of fit, finish and quality and the project was completed on time and within budget - one of the reasons we choose PatioMaster North West in the first place.” PatioMaster North West fits doors into any home and style of building. Matthew said: “Our main aim with the re-model was to let as much light in to the room as possible, and give us optimal views out to the garden with the maximum opening for nice days. We went for 2.4m high floor to window doors to achieve a maximum view of the sky, and the grey exterior gives the look of aluminium and the white inside lends a clean, minimal look and complements the property perfectly.” Installers A55 Plastics has been installing new plastics, windows and conservatories to customers across north Wales for 20 years. The installation took about half a day, and the installer was recommended to the homeowner via a mutual friend. PatioMaster offers a comprehensive support package to its fabricators, and by working through a small network of local craftsmen, also offers a dedicated and local service for homeowners.
