UNLOCK A NEW CUSTOMER BASE Richard Hawkins has been the sales manager at SKS for almost 7 years now but has worked for the company for over 13 years in total, so he’s more than qualified to tell PRO Installer about a relatively untapped market opportunity for installers and the open days that the company is holding to unlock this lucrative area… SKS began in 1972 selling locks and keys through a retail outlet and quickly identified that there wasn’t a good network of suppliers for keys and locks. “Over the decade that followed the company grew its operations and, in 1984, SKS as it is today was born. The retail shop is still going to this day but now operates independently to SKS,” explains Richard. “Since then SKS has grown year-on-year,” he continues, “operating from a combined office and warehouse in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, where we handle national sales and orders for the whole of the UK and Ireland. “SKS’s core business is that of a wholesale distributor of key blanks, key cutting machinery and accessories. In addition the company supplies a range of locks and security products including multipoint locks for UPVC windows and doors, digital locks, mortice locks, padlocks, chains and safes. In fact, our full colour catalogue boasts over 12,000 products across 336 pages and includes a full price list. Basically, if SKS hasn‘t got it, you don’t need it.” CONTINUES ON PAGE 02
