30 APRIL 2016 PRO INSTALLER PRO NEWS www.proinstaller.co.uk NETWORK VEKA CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY Network VEKA has celebrated a successful annual general meeting and awards ceremony in StratfordUpon-Avon in this, its 20th year. The day, attended by around 250 people, began with a specially-built ‘business centre’ where specialists answered questions and offered advice to member companies. Attendees learned how suppliers in finance and marketing could help enhance and increase business opportunities. Member companies were also reminded of the favourable rates and specialist services available from Network VEKA’s affiliate partners. The official AGM rounded off the afternoon, with speakers such as John Ogilvie (Network VEKA’s MD) and Dave Jones (MD of The VEKA UK Group) guiding attendees through the year’s accounts and achievements. Before sharing a video looking back over 20 years of Network VEKA milestones, John praised the membership for all it had achieved in the last 12 months. He said: “You installed over £66m of product, taking the cumulative total since 1996 to over £950m. At £3,700, average installed values are the highest for eight years and still overall customer satisfaction rates remain around 97%. The Network VEKA Academy has seen more than 70 people gain an NVQ in either installation or surveying proving that Network VEKA members surpass any industry ‘minimu m standards.’ Some members have already achieved the BSI kitemark for the installation of windows and doors through Network VEKA’s association with BSI. A gala dinner and awards evening followed, with a champagne reception and 1980s tribute band. Overall National Winner was Frames Conservatories Direct, for the second year in a row. On the night, Network VEKA also raised £1,500 for Derian House Children’s Hospice. Sponsors for the AGM included: ERA, Vestolit, Dugdale Ltd, Renolit, Euroseal, EWS, Standring Brothers, Prefix Systems, Glazpart, Chick Plastics, B&I Fabrications, Baerlocher, The Image Works Ltd. But the fantastic amount of sponsorship raised so far is keeping them motivated. Liniar’s Design & Development and Marketing teams joined forces to enter the extreme off-road running event to raise money for the Royal Derby Hospital’s Neonatal unit in memory of Winter Wolfe Gaskin, grandson of D&D Director Adrian ‘Reg’ Redshaw, who sadly passed away just one day after his birth in October last year. “It’s been fantastic how everyone in both departments has thrown themselves into this,” said Adrian. “They’ve all been training hard and raising sponsorship. The generosity of our ‘The total is over £4,000 now but we’d love to reach £5,000’ customers and trade press has also been astounding, with some incredible donations. The total is over £4,000 now but we’d love to reach £5,000, or even more.” The Wolf Run is a mix of running trails using manmade obstacles, with the 10km course featuring natural hurdles - from lake swims to mud pits, fallen trees, boggy ground, ditches, hills and dense foliage.
