On January 26, 2019, selected students from year 12 & 13 went for the Emirates Aviation University Water Rocket Challenge. Our aim was to build a water rocket within the designated time period from the materials that were provided primarily- two large Coke bottles.
Prior to the competition, we discussed the aerodynamic design of the rocket, and the strategies to follow. The rockets were to be judged on their aesthetic appeal and the distance travelled. It was to be filled with water to a certain level and then launched at 60psi pressure. At launch, the rocket flew an amazing 101 meters.
If given an opportunity, we would definitely participate in this challenge again.
