April 8 , 9 THE CHAMBER CHORUS OF CORO LUX under the direction of Bradley Ellingboe TO PERFORM BRAHMS ’ REQUIEM ON APRIL 8th & 9th The Chamber Chorus of Coro Lux , under the direction of Bradley Ellingboe , will perform Brahms ’ Ein Deutsches Requiem on Saturday , April 8th , at 7 pm , and again on Palm Sunday , April 9th , at 3 pm . Both performances will be at St . Paul Lutheran Church , 1100 Indian School Rd NE . Brahms Requiem is meant to be of comfort to the living , rather than a dirge for the dead . As he composed it , foremost in his mind was the death of his beloved mother , as well as his friend and mentor , Robert Schumann . This will be a performance of the so-called “ London version ,” arranged for two pianos and timpani by the composer himself and first performed in London in 1871 . Pianists are Mary Ann Ybarra and Maribeth Gunning . Alexis Corbin is performing on timpani . Vocal soloists are Rebecca Brunette and Alfredo Beltran . Coro Lux , based in Albuquerque , NM , has achieved international acclaim as a world-class chorus , having performed most recently at Carnegie Hall .
