could remember. Before they left, Sarah asked if she
could visit the house before they went ahead with any
exorcism. She said that, before the ghosts were banished,
she would dearly like to investigate a little for her own
satisfaction; she thought there was a reason for
everything.
When Dave looked puzzled, Sarah explained that she
was very sensitive to atmosphere and might find
similarities with other cases she had known. Gavin
nodded in confirmation, and Dave immediately agreed
to his suggestion that next time they needed a baby-
sitter they should ask Sarah and Polly round. The house
would be quiet – unless the kids woke up!
Sarah and Polly exchanged satisfied smiles ...they
would look forward to it, they promised.
