One could easily be forgiven for thinking that this is yet another
book about the death and resurrection of Jesus. Don’t be
fooled! To make assumptions about the book based on its title
and the picture on the cover (a crown of thorns) would be an
injustice. Its scope is much wider, in that David Limbaugh has
set out, with a lawyers insight and training, to examine the
truthfulness of the whole Bible.
Seasoned evangelist Roger Carswell draws on his vast
experience in order to present the biblical mandate to
preach evangelistically to the non-Christian. This very
short book (60 pages) offers five chapters outlining that
the gospel must spell out clearly the message of Christ
crucified; it should be done creatively and in love, seeking
to connect with the non-Christian; and it should yield fruit.
He demonstrates that there is a mass of evidence to show
that the Bible is historically reliable – more so than any
other ancient text. There are about 25,000 New Testament
manuscripts in at least seven languages, compared to a mere
1800 manuscripts (all in Greek) for Homer’s Iliad.
The book offers a gentle rebuke to preachers who may
have the tendency to leave the gospel hanging around
the sidelines of sermons at evangelistic services or other
