Warm responses to
the first issue
Just received my Preach magazine and
skimmed through. I have to say it looks
really useful and interesting and much,
much better than Ichthus.

At seventeen I received a note to preach
in the Methodist Church in Yorkshire;
at 23 I was accredited, remaining a
local preacher till 52 years of age when
I translated to the Church of England
on moving to Lancashire. I was then a
Reader till I was ordained at 65, retiring
on my 70th birthday from parish
ministry. Today I have ‘permission to
officiate’. For a number of years I have
produced ‘The God Slot’ in Northern
Life magazine and a humorous website
article for Hammond and Harper,
clerical outfitters.
The reason I share this with you is
to give credence to my following
comment: this first edition of Preach
in my humble opinion is one of
the best magazines I have read on
preaching ministry because of its
clear and practical approach from
its contributors. Amongst the articles
its recommendations for preaching

May this and subsequent editions bring
renewed dynamics to preaching and
pastoral ministry.

The magazine arrived in the post
yesterday! Congratulations to you and
your team on a wonderful and inspiring
publication. I am sure it is going to be
so relevant and helpful for so many
people. The size and presentation work
very well – it has the appearance of
a worthwhile publication. I have had
an initial read-through of the various
articles and related to the balance
between articles on – for example
– Wycliffe, the interview, practical
support on preaching and creativity.
