Dental Licensure

Upon request, the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry (SBOD) will provide license registration packets containing the license application, state dental laws and professional codes. The registration cycle in Pennsylvania is biennial, ending March 31 of each odd-numbered year. To be eligible for renewal, dentists must complete 30 CE credit hours prior to the March 31 deadline.

Serious penalties can result from failure to renew your license on time. The state board sends out renewal notices two to three months prior to the license expiration date. If a notice is not received, it is the dentist’s responsibility to contact the state board prior to the current license expiration date.

The state board accepts all regional exams towards licensure, including: NERB, WREB, SRTA, CRDTS, CITA. The state board will also grant reciprocity if you are a licensee in good standing with another state.

Initial application fee: $200

Renewal fee: $263
