Why EVERY Student Should Participate in the
ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP)
Trying to find your place in the world? Need some help
identifying careers that match your skills and interests? The
ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) allows you to explore
the world of work, rather than limiting your exploration by
prescribing a specific career.
// Not sure about your future? You will have confidence in
your decision-making because you spend time exploring your
strengths, interests, and options. This is a unique opportunity
for you to explore education, work, military, and/or certification
after high school. You also have exclusive access to career
planning tools where you can plan for the future that fits you
best. #youdecide
// Not sure which branch? Unlike the enlistment ASVAB, with
the ASVAB CEP you do not have to be sponsored by a
particular Service to take the test. You can approach a military
career like a job hunt and identify the branch of service that
offers an opportunity most closely related to your strengths
and interests. Then, contact a recruiter from one branch of
service, or all of them!
The ASVAB CEP, sometimes called the Student
ASVAB, is made up of three components:
// ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery): The
aptitude test estimates your performance in academic and
vocational endeavors.
// FYI: The interest inventory measures your work-related
// Find a career. The new Careers in the Military powered by
ASVAB CEP has all-inclusive details about military career
opportunities across all Services. You can see your Service-
specific ASVAB line scores and discover which branches offers
which jobs, find answers to commonly asked questions, and
easily contact any Service to discuss your options.
interests.
// OCCU-Find: A career catalog provides activities to help you
put a plan together.
Why should you participate in the ASVAB CEP?
// You have no obligation to military service, but students in
11th grade and beyond who choose to enlist can use their
scores to explore enlistment opportunities.
// It only takes a little time, and you will learn a lot about your
skills and interest, and your opportunities after high school.
Instead of searching for hours, everything is available in one
place, and it’s free!
