Tallassee High Wins at Dance Camp
This past summer , the THS Dance Team attended a camp hosted by the Universal Dance Association at the University of Alabama at Birmingham . The coach along with 13 dancers stayed on campus for 3 nights and 4 days . While there the dancers learned several dances to perform during pre-game at football games , pep rallies , and half time during basketball games . On the last day of camp , the dancers were judged on a performance dance as a group and individually on several dances they learned . Every dancer received the highest rating , a blue ribbon , for each of their individual performances . The team also received the highest rating for their group dance . In addition , the team was awarded the Superior Trophy and the Most Improved trophy and won the Spirit Stick and Super Spirit Stick voted on by the other teams for demonstrating great spirit and sportsmanship . Two of the dancers competed for All American and both were selected .
The THS Dance Team performs at pre-game for home football games and during all football games while the band plays . They also dance during half-time of home basketball games .
ACA Teams Up with LifeSouth
Alabama Christian Academy and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers teamed up for the “ Bleed for your Team ” blood drive hosted on ACA ’ s campus . LifeSouth supplies blood to every hospital in the tri-county area . LifeSouth team member Harriett Stephens , said , “ Once we have our hospitals supplied , we will be able to help TX and FL and any other requests that come our way . That ’ s what we do- we help others in need , and we look forward to having a surplus so that we can help when asked . Our corporate office is located in Gainesville , FL and they were closed for several days preparing for Irma , so they are working to make sure they have blood for their local hospitals as well . We are all pulling together to assist each other and together we will make this happen ! Thanks to ACA we will be one step closer !”
