Tuskegee University offers a 4-year scholarship for high school students. Tuskegee’s ROTC students learn skills that include: leadership, verbal and written communication, problem solving, resiliency, discipline, time management and critical thinking. One of these great programs that will challenge you to work hard and have some fun is the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program. If yes is your answer, Army ROTC is for you. What is the Army ROTC and what are the benefits? The Army ROTC is offered at many colleges and Universities across the nation. This program had been established to seek committed intellectual young men and women who want to serve in our nation’s military at junior levels of management or as officers. Students who are seeking 4 year degrees or a Masters degree who complete all the requirements of our program will commission as a Second Lieutenant. The possibilities are forever endless while serving as an Army Officer (and even after the military) with all the experiences you will gain. 36 | • Salary of a Commissioned Army Officer is much higher than that of an enlisted soldier (and comparable to those of the civilian sector) with 4 years of service or experience. • As a Commissioned Army Officer, upon graduation day you start in the junior fields of management with tremendous career growth opportunities. • Learn and have fun enjoying military formals, rappelling, rifle marksmanship, f irst aid training, land navigation training, outdoors camping, learning to manage people, and much more. What happens after Graduation? Once a student has graduated they will attend the Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) as a Second Lieutenant. This course is specifically designed around the career field that they have been given. After graduating from this course, which varies in length, they will then be assigned to a unit anywhere in the world supervising 30- 40 people.
