MPS Announces National Merit Semifinalists
BrewTech Hosts 5th Annual
VEX Robotics Competition
BrewTech High School will be hosting its
5th Annual VEX Robotics Competition in
their gym Saturday November 19th from
9:00 – 4:00 PM. This will be the largest VEX
Robotics Event in the State of Alabama to date.
Admission is free and the public is welcome
to attend. There will be 36 robots from around
the state of Alabama competing. Up to five
robots will qualify for the Alabama VEX
State Championship held on March 4th at
Jacksonville State University.
MPS announced the names of 12 students who were named 2017
National Merit Semifinalists at Loveless Academic Magnet Program
(LAMP). The announcement coincided with the National Merit
Scholarship Corporation’s release of the names of semifinalists
nationwide earlier today.
LAMP students Junghoun Bae, Joshua S. Breckenridge, Marlee A.
Bryant, Seung Gyu Choi, Danica Justine B. de Jesus, John A. Frost, Teja
Ginjupalli, Micheal T. Head, Jae Young Kang, Mary C. Norris, Tae Ho
Koh and Hilina B. Woldemichael are among 16,000 students who were
selected from a pool of 1.6 million juniors from more than 22,000 high
schools who scored well on the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) and applied
for the program. These students, who are now seniors, will advance to
compete for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships, worth $33 million
that will be offered next spring.
